What this means for agents
Most of what turns up when you search public posts for buyers isn't a buyer: in this sample, roughly 74% of posts were news, market chat, people who had already bought, renters, sellers or browsers. The buyers who remain tend to ask practical, specific questions, which is the opening for a useful public answer. Our guide to finding buyers on Reddit without breaking the rules covers how to answer them, and the GTA page explains how a weekly brief works.
Method and limits
- Source. One weekly sweep, collected 7 Nov 2026. Each sweep runs the same set of Google searches restricted to public Reddit posts from about the last month (some limited to communities like r/TorontoRealEstate, r/PersonalFinanceCanada and r/askTO), so this is a sample of what Google had indexed and what our searches matched, not every post and not every buyer.
- Dates. Posting dates are estimated from each post's ID and are accurate to about a day or two.
- Classification. Each post was read and classified individually, with an AI-assisted process, from its title and Google's snippet only. Snippets are short and sometimes show a reply rather than the original post, so some classifications are judgement calls; a few are marked unclear.
- Topics and places. Tagged by keyword from the title, snippet and classification note. Treat them as a rough guide to what came up, not precise shares.
- Privacy. This page has counts only: no usernames, no links to individual posts, no quotes.
- Small numbers. With a sample this size, one or two posts move a percentage a lot. Compare editions with care.

Questions
What did GTA home buyers ask about on Reddit in this period?
The most common topics were houses (10 of 18), mortgages and pre-approval (4 of 18), and condos (4 of 18). Other recurring topics were a specific listing or area, budgets and income, first-time buying, townhouses.
How many people were buying a home?
18 unique posts from people buying in the GTA, out of 87 posts in the sample. That's a sample of Google-indexed public posts that matched our searches, not a count of all buyers in the GTA.
How was this measured?
We run the same set of Google searches over public Reddit posts each week, keep posts from about the last 30 days, and classify each one from its title and search snippet as buying, selling, renting, browsing, already bought or off-topic, and whether it's in the GTA. Topics are tagged by keyword. See the method section on this page.
